Vape Bottle Opener Guide
If you’ve been vaping for a long time and you’ve managed to cut down on your nicotine intake, shortfill e-liquids are the next best option for both convenience and your wallet, especially once you’ve found your favourite flavour and brand.
These large bottles of vape juice are available in 50ml, 100ml and even 200ml options, so you can vape to your heart’s content and make sure you always have e-liquid on hand to refill.
But if you’ve not used shortfills before, you may be thinking about how they work, how you use and mix them, and what are the benefits of switching over from nicotine salts.
Well, this guide explores all the key benefits of shortfills and shows you how easy it is to use them.
What are Shortfill E-Liquids?
Shortfill e-liquids are large bottles of e-liquid that aren’t pre-mixed with nicotine. Instead, separate nicotine shots are available, which are then mixed into the bottle. This means the user can choose the strength they want for maximum versatility and customisation.
They used to be just for DTL vapers with sub-ohm vape kits - devices that produce huge clouds of smooth vapour packed full of flavour. But not anymore. Let’s explore the two main types of shortfills.
High VG Shorfills for DTL Vaping with Sub-Ohm Kits
To make those signature clouds smooth enough to use with a high-wattage device, these e-liquids have a high VG (vegetable glycerin) content - usually around a 70/30 VG mix. With a DTL vaping style, these shortfills are mainly used to get maximum flavour and an intense experience but with minimal nicotine.
50/50 Shortfills for MTL Vaping with Pod Kits
Fairly new to the market, there are now plenty of 50/50 VG/PG blends for pod kit users who want the same flexibility, choosing something longer-lasting but with less nicotine. While nic salts and freebase nicotine e-liquids are available in either 20mg or 18mg strengths, 50/50 shortfills only go up to 6mg with the help of nic shots.
If you’re looking to taper down your nicotine consumption or want to save money in the long term, these shortfills are perfect for you. Created in the same blend and flavours as your favourite nicotine salts, the only difference is that there is a lower nicotine concentration, but you get much more use out of a bigger bottle. How to Open Vape Juice Bottles with a Vape Bottle Opener?
To get the nozzle off your shortfill bottle to add nicotine, we recommend using a special vape bottle opener to avoid spillage or damaging the nozzle. You may not be sure how to use a cap opener, but it’s very simple.
Using a Vape Bottle Opener for Shorfill E-Liquids
-
Open the main cap of the bottle by pressing and twisting it off.
-
Grab the opener and put the groove of it under the lip of the bottle.
-
As you would with a bottle opener, apply upward pressure until the cap lifts off.

Using a Vape Bottle Opener for Nicotine Shot E-Liquids
-
Open the main cap of the bottle by pressing down and twisting it off.
-
Slide the vape bottle opener on the bottle's nozzle until it fits tightly.
-
Gently apply pressure to the handle until the cap pops off.

How to Mix Shortfill Bottles
Shortfill e-liquids are purposely underfilled so you can add your desired amount of nicotine shot. Let’s explore how to mix shortfills and nicotine shots:
-
Get everything ready to hand, including your shortfill bottle, nic shots, vape bottle opener, and some tissue or kitchen roll in case of spillages.
-
After taking the caps off all your bottles, use the vape bottle opener to remove the nozzles.
-
Pour the desired amount of nic shots into the shortfill bottle before replacing the nozzles and then the cap.
-
Make sure the cap is on tightly, and shake the mixed shortfill bottle well.
-
Let it stand for a few minutes before filling your vape. The longer you leave it, the better the flavour.
Give the bottle a good shake every time you refill your tank to ensure the nicotine and e-liquid are mixed properly.
