From 29th October 2026, we’re making some changes to the way members of the Vape UK VIP Club earn and redeem their loyalty points.
We know that changes to a loyalty scheme can cause concern - particularly if you’ve been carefully building your points balance or working towards the next membership tier. We therefore want to explain what is changing, why it is necessary and, just as importantly, what is staying exactly the same.
Let’s start with the most important reassurance:
You will not lose any points or rewards you have already earned.
If you have 500 points in your account on 28th October, you will still have 500 points on 29th October. Your existing points will keep their value, your current VIP tier will not change simply because the new rules take effect, and any Platinum Punch Card stamps you have already collected will be protected.
Better still, nothing about the way you earn or redeem points will change on 1st October. Although Vaping Products Duty officially begins on that date, we expect to have enough legitimate pre-duty stock to keep the VIP Club running as we do today until 29th October.
This gives everyone one clear date to remember and allows us to introduce both updates together.
Why is the VIP Club changing?
Two significant regulatory changes are arriving in October.
On 1st October 2026, the government is introducing Vaping Products Duty, usually shortened to VPD. This new tax is charged based on the amount of e-liquid in a vaping product.
Retailers can continue selling legitimate pre-duty stock during the government’s sell-through period. We expect to have enough existing stock to keep most products at their pre-duty prices until 29th October, so customers will continue to earn points on their full value during that time.
On 29th October, new rules under the Tobacco and Vapes Act will also restrict the use of substantial discounts to promote vaping products.
Rather than changing one part of the VIP Club on 1st October and another part four weeks later, we’re making both updates on 29th October. This keeps the transition as straightforward as possible for everyone.
How earning points will change
From 29th October, you will continue to earn points on the amount you spend on eligible products.
However, you will not earn points on the Vaping Products Duty included in a product’s price or the VAT charged on that duty.
The simplest way to explain it is this:
You’ll earn points on the product, but not on the new tax added to it.
For example, imagine a 10ml bottle of e-liquid costs £4 before the new duty is added. VPD and the VAT charged on it would add £2.64, bringing the price to £6.64.*
The difference becomes much more noticeable with larger volumes. If a 50ml shortfill costs £12 before duty, VPD and the VAT charged on it would add £13.20, bringing the price to £25.20.*
In both cases, your VIP points would be calculated using the original product price - £4 for the 10ml bottle or £12 for the 50ml shortfill - not the tax added to it.

Our system will recognise VPD-affected products and automatically calculate your eligible spend. You won’t need to identify the duty yourself, enter a code or do any maths at checkout.
Your account will simply award points on the part of your purchase that qualifies.
*Prices are illustrative only. Final prices may vary once additional supply chain costs are taken into account.
Your points-earning rate is not changing
The number of points earned by each VIP tier will remain the same:
- Bronze members earn 1 point for every eligible £1 spent
- Silver members earn 1.25 points for every eligible £1 spent
- Gold members earn 1.5 points for every eligible £1 spent
- Platinum members earn 1.75 points for every eligible £1 spent
The only change is how much of your order counts as eligible spend.
From 29th October, we’ll remove the VPD portion and the VAT charged on that duty before calculating your points. We’ll then multiply the remaining eligible amount by the points rate for your VIP tier.
You will still earn points when buying products affected by VPD. You just won’t earn points on the tax included within their new price.
VPD only applies to vaping products that contain e-liquid. Vape kits sold without e-liquid, batteries, chargers and other hardware or accessories do not attract the duty. When you buy these products, their full value will continue to count towards the points you earn and your progress through the VIP tiers, just as it does today.
What happens to your VIP tier?
The spending thresholds for each membership tier will not change:
- £500 qualifying spend within a rolling 12-month period moves you from Bronze to Silver
- £1,000 qualifying spend moves you to Gold
- £2,500 qualifying spend moves you to Platinum

From 29th October, progress towards these thresholds will be based on your eligible spend after removing the VPD portion and the VAT charged on it.
In other words, the same amount used to calculate the points you earn will also be used to calculate your progress towards the next tier.
The thresholds themselves are not increasing. Silver will still require £500 of qualifying spend, Gold will still require £1,000, and Platinum will still require £2,500.
Your current tier will not suddenly disappear on 29th October. Purchases made from that date will simply use the new definition of qualifying spend as your rolling 12-month total continues to update.
What about the Platinum Punch Card?
The Platinum Punch Card will continue too.
Platinum members receive a digital stamp for every qualifying order of £50 or more. After the tenth qualifying order, we add 125 points to their loyalty account.
This isn’t changing:
- You will still need ten qualifying orders
- Each qualifying order must still be worth £50 or more
- The completed Punch Card reward will still be 125 points
- The only change is how we decide whether an order reaches £50
From 29th October, the £50 must come from eligible product spend. Vaping Products Duty and the VAT charged on that duty will not count towards the threshold.
For example, if your checkout total is £52 but £4 of that amount relates to VPD and its associated VAT, your eligible spend would be £48. The order would earn VIP points on £48, but it would not qualify for a Platinum Punch Card stamp.
Again, you won’t need to calculate this yourself. Our system will do it automatically.
Your existing points and rewards are safe
The changes will not remove or reduce anything you have already earned.
This includes:
- Your existing loyalty-points balance
- Your current VIP membership tier
- Platinum Punch Card stamps already collected
- Rewards already added to your account
We are not resetting accounts, reducing points balances or converting existing points into something less valuable.
The new qualifying-spend rules will apply to purchases made from 29th October. They will not be applied retrospectively to points you have already collected.
How redeeming points will change
New rules within the Tobacco and Vapes Act restrict the use of substantial discounts to promote vaping products.
The legislation does not set a single percentage that defines a substantial discount in every situation. To ensure the VIP Club continues to operate responsibly within the new rules, we’re introducing a simple, cautious limit: the loyalty reward applied to an order cannot exceed one-third of the basket value.
Put another way, you’ll need at least £3 in your basket for every £1 of loyalty reward you want to use.
For example, to apply a £2.50 reward, your basket must be worth at least £7.50. To apply a £10 reward, your basket must be worth at least £30.
The checkout will calculate this automatically and show you the rewards available for your order.
If you have enough points for a larger reward but your basket does not meet the required value, those points will remain safely in your account. You can choose a smaller reward or save your points to use against a higher-value order later.
A reward not appearing at checkout doesn’t mean it has been removed from your account. It simply means your basket has not reached the minimum value required to use it.
More reward choices at checkout
To give you greater flexibility, we’re introducing four additional redemption levels.
From 29th October, the complete range of rewards and their minimum basket values will be:

The points required for the existing £5, £10, £20 and £30 rewards are not changing.
The four new options sit proportionately between the existing rewards, giving you more control over how and when you use your points. If your basket isn't large enough for one reward, you may now have several smaller options instead.
What will I see at checkout?
When you are signed into your Vape UK account, our checkout will look at:
- Your available points balance
- The total value of your basket
- The reward options available for that basket value
- It will then show you every reward you can apply to that order.
For example, if your basket is worth £45 and you have enough points available, you’ll be able to choose a reward of up to £15. Larger rewards will not appear, but the points in your account will remain available for another order.
You won’t need to calculate percentages or remember the minimum basket values. The checkout will take care of everything for you.
All you need to do is select from the reward options shown.
What is staying the same?
Although the calculations behind some purchases are changing, the VIP Club will remain firmly in place.
From 29th October:
- Your existing points will remain in your account
- Your points will retain their existing value
- Your VIP points-earning rate will stay the same
- The Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum tiers will remain
- The spending threshold for each tier will remain the same
- You’ll still receive the same number of points on your birthday
- You’ll still earn the same points for writing product reviews
- You’ll still receive points when you reach a new VIP tier
- You’ll still receive points on the anniversary of creating your account
- You’ll still earn points for subscribing to our newsletter
- The Platinum Punch Card will continue
- The completed Punch Card reward will remain 125 points
- The existing £5, £10, £20 and £30 redemption values will remain
- Four additional redemption options will give you more flexibility
- We’ll continue to offer double points on all VUK e-liquids
For VUK e-liquids, we’ll award double points on the eligible product value after VPD and the VAT charged on that duty have been removed. We won’t award standard or double points on the VPD-related portion of the price.
In short, nothing changes on 1st October, and everything you have already earned is protected. From 29th October, points and VIP tier progress will be based on the product portion of your purchase, not the new tax added by the government. When you redeem your points, you’ll have more reward options, each with a simple minimum basket value.
Everything will update automatically. You don’t need to make any changes to your account.
